Training: Understanding Gender Based Violence from a Migrant Woman’s Perspective

AkiDwA, our partners in Ireland, organised a  discussion group with service providers and front line services to discuss challenges and issues faced by migrant women, focusing on challenges and laws and policies at international, EU and National level safeguarding women. The theme of the event was Protecting Migrant Women from Domestic Sexual and Gender Based Violence (DSGBV) by reviewing, amending and applying International, EU and National Laws and Policies. The objective included to  share and discuss challenges faced by migrant women in Ireland affected by DSGBV and articulate strategies to address the problems. 27 participants from 11 different cities and locations in Ireland working or supporting migrant women affected by DSGBV attended the meeting. The event was chaired by Dr Salome Mbugua- AkiDwA Head of Operations and Strategies
